Every magazine is a manual on how to be gurly or masculine. Guys have their magazines about sport cars, sports and ones like Mens Health that tell you how to live. They essentially tell guys that this is what you are suppose to be like. Chicks have the same thing for them too. All these magazines about baking and gossip. In every magazine there are tips on how to look "good" or ways to look pretty. In the June/July 2006 Cosmo Girl, there is an article labeled Mermaid Beauty. It has tips on how to do makeup and hair to look like a sea beauty. All the pictures have water as a background and the models all seem to have a flawless complexion. The whole idea behind the article is how to look amazing for summer. However, it gets to the point where it seems the people from the magazine are telling girls how they are suppose to look to get noticed when they are at the beach or where ever water is to be found. The opening of the article even begins with "Mythological sirens used to bewitch sailors with mesmerizing songs, but copying these watercolor makeup looks and rippling hairstyles is an easier way to lure in your catch!" The whole article is just another one with no depth telling girls how to be a piece of meat for guys to come after.
