Watching Scrubs the other day it became apparent to me that it actually depicts life in hospitals fairly well. If you ever go to a hospital in real life you will notice most of the doctors are guys and most all the nurses are women. In the show Scrubs it is essentially the same set up. All the nurses at the front desk and walking around are women. Most of the doctors are guys with the exception of Elliot. Actually, the girl Elliot even has a name that some would consider a "guys" name. If most just heard the name and have never seen the show they would probably believe it to be a guy. It is very stereotypical to have the nurses be girls and the doctors guys and most shows and movies seem to portray this image, however some don't such as in the movie Meet the Parents. The main character is a male nurse. When his girlfriends parents find out what his job is, her dad just laughs and tries to cover his laughter by saying it is an impressive job and someone has to do it. The dad is just judging the masculinity of the main characters job.
